Indiana Fortune Cookies

3/4 c Butter or margarine
2 c Sugar
1 ts Vanilla
3  Eggs
1 c Sifted flour
60  Intriguing fortunes written
 -on small strips of paper

Let butter softem outside the refrigerator.
In a mixing bowl put sugar and butter and blend together until fluffy.
Add vanilla.
Then add eggs to the mixture, one at a time.
Beat well after adding each egg.
Then add flour and beat thoroughly.
Heat the oven to 375F.
Grease the cookie sheets, then dust lightly with flour.
Drop rounded teaspoons of dough at least 2 inches apart on each sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes and remove.
With a wide spatula, loosen each cookie from the sheet.
Place a folded fortune on each cookie.
Gently fold the cookies in half with the fortune inside.
Pinch edges together, then twist in the centers.
Makes 60 fortune cookies.
NOTE: While putting a fortune inside each cookie, keep the cookie sheet warm.
This will make the cookies easier to work with.
